While some experts claim that if addicts are not ready then you can't help them, this only holds true to a certain degree. You don't have to allow someone to hit "rock bottom" because that might be a long-term prison sentence or death. Often some type of intervention can be done to motivate the addict to seek help, which starts bringing the "bottom" up to them.
Examples of this could be a family, law enforcement or judicial intervention, or simply the right person educating them about what's truly going on with them to help bring a greater understanding to the situation. It's also about finding the correct solution to the problem.
